How to Prepare for Your Hydrocolon Therapy Session

According to Statista, the last few decades have seen the death rate from colorectal cancer decline, thanks in part to regular screening that helps identify and remove colorectal polyps before they turn cancerous. Cancer spotted early is easier to treat. Hydrocolon therapy sessions are a great preventative step for your wellbeing. Here is how to prepare for one.

Stay Hydrated

Preparation for a colon hydrotherapy session should start roughly 3–7 days before your appointment. Drink plenty of water and fluids during this time — at least 2 liters of water daily. The more hydrated you are, the better your colon cleansing will go.

Eat Vegetables

Eat plenty of vegetables when preparing for your session. Vegetables are high in fiber, which helps you avoid constipation and makes bowel movements easier. Other foods can clog up the colon, while vegetables help open it up and keep it clean.

Avoid Certain Medication

Be mindful of any medication you take before your session, and especially avoid laxatives if you have a colon cleanse scheduled. Laxatives and colon cleansing serve a similar purpose, but a colon cleanse is gentler and more effective — and the therapy itself is comfortable and relaxing.

Avoid Alcohol and Fizzy Drinks

Do not drink alcohol, sodas or caffeinated beverages in the days before your session. These beverages dehydrate your body, and since hydration is so important for a hydrocolon therapy session, avoid anything that depletes your body of water.

Eat Healthy Food

Avoid junk food and anything highly processed. Choose wholesome, fibrous foods like vegetables. Eating healthy meals helps your hydrocolon therapy go smoothly.
